Cian is a Trainee Solicitor in our Private Wealth team.
He advises high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, farming families, trustees and personal representatives on a broad range of private wealth matters.
His practice includes estate and tax planning, trust structuring and governance, wealth protection, estate administration and probate, inheritance tax reporting, and the drafting of wills, lasting and general powers of attorney and bespoke trust documentation. He has experience advising on complex and technical matters, including those involving cross‑jurisdictional elements, and routinely undertakes detailed legal research. He works closely with senior lawyers and professional advisers to deliver technically rigorous and pragmatic advice.
Cian began his professional career at Shoosmiths LLP in October 2022 in the High-Net-Worth department before transferring to Rothley Law with his colleagues in June 2023.
Cian read for the Bachelor of Civil Law at the University of Oxford, achieving a ‘Distinction’ and was awarded the Law Faculty Prize in ‘Taxation of Trusts and Global Wealth’ for best performance in the option. Prior to this, he completed his undergraduate law degree at Oxford Brookes University, graduating top of his cohort (1/170) with first-class honours, alongside multiple academic prizes. He has also recently passed the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE1) in the first quintile (Q1) for both papers.
