Rothley Law celebrates a year of growth in Bristol

Rothley Law has marked the first anniversary of its Bristol office with a celebration event held at the Glassboat on Welsh Back on Thursday 29 January.

The event welcomed more than 60 clients and professional contacts from across the Bristol legal community, providing an opportunity to reflect on a year of significant growth for our South West presence.

A year of growth for Rothley Law

Over the last year our team has doubled in size, with eight full-time team members now working in the Bristol office. In just over one year of being in Bristol, the team has taken on over 100 matters.

This mirrors the wider nationwide increase for the firm, with our headcount growing from 53 to 73 employees across its offices that span across the South, Midlands and North or England. Rothley Law was established in 2023 following the acquisition of Shoosmiths’ private client business. We specialises in wealth protection, disputed wills and trusts, and Court of Protection – a specialist Court that deals with the affairs of people who may lack the capacity to make decisions for themselves.

Our contribution to the local community

Our firm has continued to contribute to the wider Bristol community in terms of both charity and professional development. The two partners have held trustee positions in local charities – with Rebecca Bristow for Cerebral Palsy Plus and Heledd Wyn until recently for Gympanzees. Rebecca has also fundraised for Headway – the brain injury association – and Action against Medical Accidents. As a member of The Professional Deputies Forum, Rebecca regularly engages in training and development to assist the next generation of junior Court of Protection practitioners, to promote good practice and the continued provision of specialist expertise to vulnerable clients.

Rothley’s plans for 2026

Looking ahead, Rothley Law has ambitious recruitment and growth plans for 2026. Commenting on our first year in Bristol, Rebecca Bristow said: “This was a great opportunity to reflect on a whirlwind first year in the city. A lot of hard work goes into making a success of a new venture, so we wanted to celebrate with our community – our staff, our clients and referrers – in Bristol and further afield across the South West”.
